Summering

It's quiet and still around the house this evening. It was a scorcher today. We put our suits on around 5 this afternoon to take a dip in the pool and the clouds rolled in and cooled everything off.  I'm on the sofa that seems to lull me to sleep every time I sit (for just a minute) and the light is beautiful outside.  The squirrels are running a muck in our back yard.  I'm amazed at how well my flowers are doing this late in July. We spent a lot of time weeding and working in the yard taming the jungle (the side yard) and still have so much to do but it feels great to have put a dent in it! We had dinner with friends last night and stayed way too late. Our friend made the best home made pizzas. We were treated with prosciutto, truffle oil and arugala  and then a Whataburger pizza that tasted JUST LIKE A WHATBURGER with cheese!  The Doll made Knock you Naked brownies, recipe courtesy of Ree Drummond (Pioneer Woman) and they really almost knocked our clothes right off! We added Heath Bar to the already decadent recipe and when I say there were no leftovers.... THERE WERE NO LEFTOVERS... Our pan was completely clean.  I'm not much of a UFC fan, but I am so curious when it comes to the women that step into the ring... like a train wreck, I can't look away.  I sat on the couch with the guys and Mimi, while the others (Ladies) visited on the back porch and probably had a much more respectable conversation.  Mimi and I watched right along with the guys and I felt a little more secure because Mimi is definitely a lady!  I meet my mom tomorrow half way between Dallas and Houston to do the kid swap. They'll spend the week at Nana's Resort with their cousins from Oregon and then I'll meet them at the end of the week and we'll spend the weekend in Austin at our favorite lakeside cottage. I'm totally LOVING watercolor these days.  I can't believe I waited so long to pursue a hobby that I loved in school.  I've spent hours stalking videos on Youtube of crazy talented artists as they share their craft.  I also realized that the supplies I purchased at the craft store are not the ideal tools and just like every other hobby, to really achieve the desired outcome, I'll need to invest more dollars in purchasing the right tools...  I'm super excited that our new refrigerator with be delivered this week and I'm hoping that will also mean we'll re-do our pantry... (one can hope). I want to relocate the refrigerator to accommodate the gas range that is currently stored in our garage... (my poor husband). I'm hoping to weed through closets this week and get organized while the kids are out of the house. I have a giant to do list so that we'll be ready for school to start back.  Heres to more long summer days my friends.
